Anonymous · Secure · 24 hours · No usernames · Chat only
The anonymous chat service designed to connect people. Treat Veil as a random side quest. No consequences. Sends to any email.
A startup originating from Cornell University · By students, for students · Est. 2026
Designed to connect people. Every chat disappears in 24 hours. No archive. No trace. No usernames.
Whether you are in a lecture hall, a Zoom meeting, or just thinking about someone. Veil gives you a way to reach out without the risk.
You see them every week. You have never said it. Send a Veil and wait.
Someone you see every day or have not spoken to in a while. A quiet signal is sometimes easier than a text.
Someone you have thought about more than once. Low stakes. Real. Send a signal and see what comes back.
Poke someone you have not talked to in years, or see every day. Start a random conversation. No reason needed.
No profile. No username. No photo. Just your email so the right Veil finds you.
Enter their email. Add a hint or stay fully anonymous. They receive a secure link. One Veil per person every 48 hours.
The moment you send, you are assigned a random code name. Something like Velvet Raccoon or Midnight Waffle. Changes every time.
They open the link and see a Veil waiting with your code name. They can choose to Veil back or let it sit.
When they Veil back, a private chat opens immediately. The 24-hour timer starts. After 24 hours the chat deletes itself completely.
Inside the chat, either person can press "Lift the Veil." Both must press it within the 24-hour window to reveal each other's email.
"Facebook had the Poke. We have the Veil. More mysterious. More secure. And it actually leads somewhere."
We found a gap. We are here to fix it.
On a campus or in an office, it is easy to feel invisible. You see the same faces every day and want to reach out. Veil was built for that moment. A secure, anonymous chat service. Gone in 24 hours. No usernames. No pressure.
Let's change the social scene, together.
Founded by an anonymous founder at Cornell University.
By students, for students.The idea
The Poke was ambiguous by design. Zuckerberg himself described it that way. It became one of the most iconic features of early social media not because of what it did, but because of what it implied. A way to say something without saying anything.
But that was 2004. Today every platform asks you to perform. To post, to follow, to be visible. The quiet signal got lost.
Veil is that signal back. Secure. Anonymous. And it actually leads somewhere real. You should not be afraid of rejection because nothing is ever attached to your name unless you want it to be.
Anonymity is a privilege. Use it to connect, not to harm. Veil is a chat only service by design.
We are always looking for campus ambassadors at every university. We are hiring for the following roles.
